Shankar Nag: The Visionary

Today is the 55th birth anniversary of 'Namma' Shankar Nag. His contribution to the world of cinema and theatre is immense. Though he left us all at a young age of 35, his achievements speak volumes about his visions. He started off his acting career through the Marathi theatre. Known for his dynamic personality and perfection, he has enchanted one and all through his performances in movies like Geetha, Ondanondu Kaaladalli, Utsav, Minchina Ota, Auto Raaja, Sangliana Series and many more. He has also directed classics like Malgudi Days, Ondu Muttina Kathe, Minchina Ota, Geetha. The movie '22 June,1897' for which Shankar Nag had  written the script, went on to win the national award.
I truly wish and hope that more visionaries like him would take the world of Kannada literature, theatre, filmdom to new heights. Thank You 'Shankranna' for inspiring many talents.

Suggestions:

Watch Geetha and lose yourself to the tunes of Ilayaraaja.
Watch Malgudi Days and you would start loving Indian television all over again.
Minchina Ota and Ondanondu Kaaladalli make a good watch too.
Ondu Muttina Kathe- One of the first Indian movies to be shot underwater and has the legendary Dr.Rajkumar playing the lead. You shouldn't give this a miss.
